K-REACH Registration Deadline 2024 is Nearing – Act Now!

With the end of 2024 approaching rapidly, companies dealing with chemical substances under K-REACH face a critical registration deadline.

General Overview of K-REACH

The K-REACH Regulation came into force on January 1st, 2015. The Korean Ministry of Environment (MoE) initially announced 510 Priority Existing Substances (PECs) needed to be registered by June 30th, 2018. In 2018, an amendment introduced a pre-registration and transitional registration periods for existing substances.

Upcoming Registration Deadlines

  • End of 2024: tonnage band of 100 to 1000 tons per year.
  • End of 2027: tonnage band 10 to 100 tons per year.
  • End of 2030: tonnage band higher than 1 ton per year.

K-REACH registration deadlines

The next transitional period deadline is approaching at the end of this year, requiring registration of existing substances in the tonnage band of 100 to 1000 tons per year. Timely action is crucial as failure to comply could result in fines and market access restrictions.

  3. Substance Verification: Confirm the Substance Information Profile (SIP) and join CICO (Chemical Substance Information Communicative Organization).
  4. CICO Participation: Engage in discussions, vote for Lead Registrant, share information.
  5. Cost Agreements: Determine costs for Letters of Access (LoA), purchase LoA(s).
  6. Dossier Preparation: Submit dossier before the deadline for review.
